The Property Investors Association of Australia (PIAA) in conjunction with The Australian Institute of Competency Training, presents this extensive progam to provide a structured framework for the provision of property investment advice.

 

 

Next PIA01 Component Course Dates:
Sydney: Wednesday 22th through Saturday 25th October 2010- 4 days
Sydney: Wednesday 27th through Saturday 30th Novemeber 2010- 4 days
Melbourne: Monday 2nd through Thursday 5th November 2010- 4 days
Brisbane: Monday 4th through Thursday 7th October 2010 - 4 days.

John is the founding President of PIAA and developed the PIAA Star Rating System in conjunction with the industry leaders and standards from other industries. He co founded the Professional Education Programme and has been a keen advocate of an educational barrier to the Property Investment Advice Industry.

Rosemary Johnston, General Manager PIAA

Rosemary is a foundational Board Member of PIAA and co developed the PIAA Profesional Educational Programme. Rosemary holds the Regulation Ready role with PIAA and has excellent knowledge of the current regulatory framework and potential through discussions with various government bodies and individuals over many years.

Rosemary; currently lectures for PIAA in the topics of:

  • Current legislation and potential regulation
  • The statement of Property Investment Advice legal, business and ethical considerations
  • Investment Strategy
  • Capital Gains Taxation considerations
  • Self Managed Superannuation Funds considerations

Rosemary has presented to the Financial Services Summit on behalf of PIAA where Nick Sherry, then Minister for Corporate Law and Superannuation was the keynote speaker. She has a background in sales and marketing as well as education with training experience in major corporates as well as founding and running a pioneering Leadership Coaching business for ten years.

Steve Brown, Partner – Etienne Lawyers

Steven is an highly experienced lawyer with an extensive knowledge in all aspects of commercial law, with an intimate knowledge of finance and transactional structuring  Law.  Steven’s experience Is rare in that for many years he as junior lawyer worked on land and development projects whilist today he uses this as an adjunct to his commercial and corporate work. He brings to the course, practical knowledge and legal expertise in the areas of land, environmental remediation and securities law.

Steven  currently lectures for PIAA in the topics of:

  • Land ownership
  • Contractual Issues of land contracts
  • Land sale and purchase structured finance arrangements
  • Environment Law regarding remediation for development and security purposes
  • Misleading and deceptive conduct in the sale of  land

Steven has published a number of articles on commercial subjects.

In 2008 PIAA awarded Steven with its highest order a Fellowship of the Association in recognition of his experience in land matters and for the assistance he and his firm have given to PIAA.

Steven lectured for the Australian Institute of Company Directors from 1989-2008,  and lectured in the Master and Doctorate courses at UTS in corporations, finance and securities law from 1989-1995. He currently also lectures on securities law and the overview of land law for the Kaplan University for the Financial and Securities Institute of Australia.

The breadth of Steven’s knowledge has caused past students of the course to comment:

PIAA Accreditation:

To achieve PIAA Accreditation three modules are required. PIA01 is the new component bringing together the Statement of Property Investment Advice (SOPIA) to present to your client. The the RG 146 modules are offered by Intellitrain and other providers as is the Real Estate component.

For your information, recognition of prior learning will be given for:

1. RG146 components for General and Investment Advice, and

2. Real Estate sales entry level through to Licence level qualifications from any Registered Training Organisation in Australia.

The minimum requirement for PIAA Accreditation is entry level sales training, this is called different names in different states such as Certificate of Registration in NSW and Sales Agent in Victoria.
